Maggy Houle
Let’s welcome our neighbour, Maggy Houle.
Hi, Maggy! Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hi! I’m Maggy. I’m a bilingual employment coach here in the Petawawa area. I grew up in a military household and later served for three years myself, which really shaped my understanding of resilience, adaptability, and the importance of community.
My passion has always been helping people. I have the privilege of supporting individuals as they navigate employment, career changes, and personal barriers, and there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing someone regain confidence in themselves. Prior to this, I was an ECE, graduating from Algonquin College in 2009.
I’m also someone who truly values continuous learning. I recently completed certifications as a life coach and ADHD coach through Efficient Coach. This has allowed me to better support individuals and families in understanding what it’s like to live with ADHD. My intention is to bridge the gap in understanding by sharing the lived experience, while empowering others with the knowledge and tools to provide appropriate support.
At my core, I’m someone who believes in creating supportive environments where people feel heard, understood, and empowered to move forward.
What three adjectives do you think your family and friends would use to describe you?
Compassionate, dependable, and honest. I’m someone people can count on, and I genuinely care about supporting others in whatever they’re going through.
If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
The Bahamas. I’ve always been drawn to the calm and beauty of the ocean, but it’s more than just the scenery. It’s the feeling of being able to truly slow down and reset. Life can be busy and fast-paced, so being somewhere like that would give me the chance to recharge, reflect, and just be present.
What sound do you hate?
High-pitched noises. It’s one of those things that instantly gets under my skin and is hard to ignore once I hear it.
What is your least favourite household chore?
Folding laundry. I don’t mind washing or drying, but folding always feels like it takes forever — and somehow the pile never seems to get smaller!
What is your weirdest habit or trait?
I tend to replay conversations in my head afterward. Not in a negative way. I just naturally reflect on interactions and think about how things went. I guess the coach in me is always paying attention.
What is your perfect combination of pizza toppings?
Pepperoni, bacon, and jalapeños. It’s the perfect mix of savoury with just the right amount of heat.
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you like to see play you?
I’d choose someone who can reflect both warmth and strength — maybe Jennifer Lopez. She carries herself with confidence and heart, and that balance really resonates with me.
Are you a cat or a dog person? Why?
Definitely a dog person. I love their energy, their loyalty, and how genuinely excited they are to see you. There’s something really grounding and comforting about that kind of connection.
What would be your trademark karaoke song?
Something upbeat that gets everyone involved — one of those songs people can’t help but sing along to. For me, it’s more about the energy and enjoying the moment than getting every note right.
If you could choose to have a superpower, which one would you pick?
The ability to help people instantly see their own potential. So many people underestimate themselves, and if I could help them recognize their strengths right away, I absolutely would.
