Bekky Ladouceur
Let’s welcome our neighbour, Bekky Ladouceur.
Hi, Bekky! Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hey there, everyone!
My name is Rebekka Ladouceur, but I prefer to go by Bekky. I was both surprised and delighted to be asked to participate, so thank you Kim, for this neat opportunity to be part of such a wonderful community-based project!
I am 32 years old, and I live in the very small town of Fort-Coulonge, Quebec. I have a small dog who is my entire world! I work as a housekeeper while also running my own mobile spa business in the Pontiac and Ottawa Valley area. I was born in Shawville, Quebec, but I spent most of my years growing up in Alberta. I grew up having many wonderful memories of seeing the West Edmonton Mall for the first time (dolphins and a submarine ride!), the beautiful Rocky Mountains, and countless road trips across our country.
At 18, I decided to pack my suitcase and jump on a Greyhound bus from Alberta to Pembroke to attend college. Once I settled in Pembroke, I used my esthetics diploma to begin working in spas within the Pembroke/Petawawa area until the 2020 pandemic. At this time, I realized how much I truly love nature, and that solidified my decision to leave Pembroke after 10 years and move to Fort-Coulonge, back to my home roots!
I opened my business, “Rebekka Ladouceur Mobile Spa Services,” which has allowed me to provide manicure and pedicure services to the Pontiac and Ottawa Valley. I enjoy a simple and quiet life filled with love and laughter, especially the laughter that comes with my two nephews and my niece!
When I am not busy working with my amazing clients, you can find me tending to my jungle of 60+ houseplants, gardening, cross-stitching, spending time with those I love, and of course, spending as much time outside adventuring with my dog, while we both enjoy the nature surrounding us in this peaceful neck of the woods.
What is your least favourite household chore?
It’s a tie between the laundry and doing the dishes. Both are never-ending, and both are unfortunately unavoidable.
What three adjectives do you think your family and friends would use to describe you?
Compassionate, loyal, and funny (hopefully!)
Do you have any phobias? What are they?
My list of phobias is very long and very random. Mostly bugs, but more specifically caterpillars take the #1 spot.
Those lil’ creepy crawlies have too many legs and are too fuzzy! They make my skin crawl. I will run, scream, and probably cry if I am surprised by one. There have been witnesses who can confirm, although they would confirm through tears of laughter. It’s quite a scene.
If you had to become a breakfast cereal, which one would you choose and why?
Cap’n Crunch! Such a delicious cereal, but also a surprise sharp edge or two just to keep you on your toes.
If Hollywood made a movie based on your life, who would you like to see play you in the film?
Melissa McCarthy 100%!
What fashion trend would you most like to see return? Why?
Full-length shirts and tops — or clothing with pockets. Both need to desperately make a comeback! But I truly just want my midriff covered without having to go on a scavenger hunt just to find full shirts!
If you could be any animal, which one would you be? Why?
I would want to be a kangaroo because they are strong, heat-tolerant, unlike me, and I’d have a permanent pocket I could use.
What is your most useless talent?
I can talk extremely fast, which means I can also “speed rap” a few songs. Very useless, but also very entertaining.
What decade do you wish you had experienced? Why?
I’d have to say that I wish I had experienced the ’80s. Specifically, as a young adult. Being able to just experience things without the pressure of social media, cell phones, and generally addictive technology attached to our hands just seems a lot nicer. There was also an increase in women’s rights and equality. I think it would have been so interesting and exciting to see the world change for the better in such a huge way.
Oh, and of course, the music!
What do you miss the most about being a kid?
No matter where you fell asleep, you’d get carried ever so gently and safely to your bed or to comfort. I miss that and its simplicity.

You were so brave hopping on a bus and moving across country at the young age of 18! Alberta’s loss = the Ottawa Valley’s gain. I will never look at caterpillars the same way again. Lol. And now every time I see a kangaroo, I will suffer from “pocket envy.”
Thanks for participating. I enjoyed your story and am glad you found employment you like after having traveled so far. Good luck for the future.
